2nd Blog

OK not been back since Tuesday due to the wife working night shift at the weekend, so hogging the PC all week. I can access blogspot via my mobile (cell phone, for the Americans), but can only read and comment due to 3G network not being fast enough although it can be accessed by WI-FI but everyone seems to lock them nowadays.

Well Wednesday was pretty uneventful, a slow cold day at work followed by a quick evening and an even quicker night and back to work on Thursday, but woohoo a Holiday on Friday to look forward to because of a hastily arranged game of Ice Hockey at 23:15hrs on Thursday night, what a time for a game. Well it started off well, we were 1 down within 3 minutes, after being told to keep it tight at the start, always happens, stupid coach, keep it tight, he should keep his mouth tight, stupid jinxy coach. It did get better though, another 7 minutes before we lost another and another and another and anoth..... you get the picture, first period and we're 6 down. The second went well, we came out meaning business, we lost the face off AGAIN and there number 9 swanned around the whole team with just me and the netminder to beat, he slaps it straight at me, hits my knee, past the N/M hits the post and back onto my stick, result in a hero, I fire the puck up the ice with all my might, as it creeps up to the red line our 91 picks it up and goes down on their netminder (it's a hockey term, not a sexual thing) I think everyone else had stopped expecting a goal from their last shot, but Al kept going round the netminder and wham into the roof of the net, 30 seconds gone and we've got a goal, and I GOT AN ASSIST. The next 19 minutes and 30 seconds were a total onslaught on us, but somehow managed to survive, and went into the break only 6-1 down.

Period three was a bit of a blur with goals going in at both end although they got 2 to each of our 1, ending the game 10-3, we shook hands in the line up, then went to our respective blue lines for the man of the match awards.

First up was us, " and man of the match for Lions is number eight(yes its me)yeight, d'oh, glad i took the, oh its me pause and didn't skate out like a proper tool.
To Phoenix their man of the match was the young six stone girl wearing unlucky 13 that i managed to flatten 20 seconds before the end, my was my face red.

Friday now, nice long lie in bed which was just as well after getting home at 2am, I would never been up at 6, good plan with the holiday. 12:30 and the door goes, shit the kids are home from school already (half day Friday, pointless we never got that when we were at school) i jump up, and ask if they had a good day, well morning anyway. Yes dad but hurry up, wheres lunch we've got the hairdressers at 1, oops i forgot. I dropped them off and went with the wife for the weekly Asda shop, shouldn't be expensive as we don't need much, hour and a half later and £152.62 lighter I'm back at the hairdressers to pick them up, "do you like our hair dad" "yes, lovely (what have they done I think to myself, don't see any change, but they're happy) how much was that" "£64.00 all together" silence......................
Friday night 22:30 and back at the rink for training, this is more like it, up and down the ice, knowing the ones I can beat, and send the pass off just at the moment someone slightly better/luckier than me approaches and let the forwards do their bit. Really annoys me that they play so much better in training, and don't sling the puck away like a hot potato, but hey who I'm I Wayne Gretzky, i don't think.
Oh and yes I got ripped for crunching the little girl in last nights game, if you believe the stick I'm getting you'd think she was about 8 years old, mixed hockey so she must have been 18 (Your Honour).

Saturday and the Italians were in town for the six nations rugby (pointless game, balls should be round, and are made for kicking) which Scotland won 26-6 I think. Work was very busy, the Italians took to the Scottish culture and seemed to be pissed by midday, when in Rome and all that. So the day flew in, which takes me to here on the blog, before I publish, just going to check my spelling and grammar............

Spelling checked, can't believe Gretzky is in spellcheck, must be American dictionary
